Anna began designing her own glass collections in 2002. Over the years, she has developed two lines: Anna Torfs Basics and Anna Torfs Edition. However distinctive, both collections share the same approach - contemporary design using traditional glass techniques as a base from which to explore and create. The ability of glass to capture, reflect and absorb light is the central theme in Anna's work. Transparency and translucency are not always identical. Colour is critical, evoking strong emotions; colours should be "true". Cutting through the object like an anatomist, Anna reveals layer after layer to show how an object is built. These unconventional cutting techniques also reveal the contrast between the vibrant centre and the sober "skin" of her objects.

During the MILANO DESIGN WEEK 2010, held concurrently with the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milano, Italy (14-19 April 2010) visitors can admire POLLEN IV, an artwork made by sculptor Tomáš Medek from Corian®. Pollen IV is exhibited in the J&V Store showroom (Jannelli&Volpi, via Melzo 7, Milano). The use of this material in the field of art discovers additional revolutionary properties of Corian®, which enters completely different dimensions of its use.

Neoline by BOA design

Neoline is a collection of chandeliers designed especially for hotel and restaurant interiors, spaces typically large enough to allow the unconventional design of these chandeliers to excel. The first idea for the collection was born in 2006 when the first sketches and visualizations of this collection came into existence. Since then, development of the collection began with the right technologies to facilitate its creation being investigated. The final shape and size of the lights were influenced and determined by technologies available. The design of the collection bears fluid lines, reminescent of classic crystal chandeliers which Neoline can easily replace with their unconventional minimalism and simplicity. Material: borosilikate glass, rust- resistant steel Design: Petr Mikosek, Production : BOADESIGN in a cooperation with NEONY SIGN.

Modella and Buble by BOA design

Hot news from BOA design studio - MODELLA and BUBLE collection. The Modella and Buble sets were designed for Kvetna glass works. Both sets are the result of an economical conception as they are created using just two molds. They only differ in the length of their stems which defines the look and final proportion of each type.

As you can guess from the name, the Buble set is inspired by bubbles. Their form consists of two circles which permeate each other. The final shape is reminiscent of the curves of a woman's body. You can observe the color and appearance of your wine in the bottom part of the glass, while the upper part retains the aroma and allows the bouquet of the wine to stand out.

The Modella set comes from the shape of a cylinder which is tapered in the middle to lighten the cylinder's strict geometrical shape. The fragility and simplicity of the form is further enhanced by a thin stem with a length that changes according to glass type. The stem is missing from the glasses for whiskey and water, and the bottom is thickened to balance the proportions of the form.

Typical for both sets is the concave shape of the body which allows the glass to be held in the middle. Such usage challenges conventional sommelier's methods.
