Newest project from Soren Rose Studio.
A History Lesson.
Remember the hardwood? The squeak of a sneaker. The sound of the whistle. That last second shot. The Gymnasium Collection takes its inspiration from a simpler time in our lives when victories were measured on scoreboards and teamwork wasn't just for meetings.
The first incarnation of this line was launched in 2008 with our High School History Lesson series. Created from recycled gym floorboards, this limited edition collection used the graphic lines and simple silhouettes of the court to pay tribute to the simplicity and spirit of sport.
Today, it reinvents itself as Gymnasium, a mass-produced series that uses sustainable, eco-friendly materials like renewable pine and controlled Danish oak with water-based fixatives and varnishes. The result is a brilliant series, sold globally by Mater and crafted by Denmark's oldest cabinet makers Bruno Hansen Carpentry.
Like its predecessor, Gymnasium honors its past while investing in the future. For every piece purchased, Mater donates a percentage of the profits to promoting sports in developing countries, allowing a new generation to be inspired to play and create. Have a look at:

Paper is not a foldable table but a folded one. The simple table is made of aluminium and has been folded to gain a constructional strength. The table is 140x50 cm and is thought as a small console table for the private home or hotel rooms. The fact that it is made from aluminium makes it possible to anodize in a wide range of colours.

Egg by Arne Jacobsen
17/01/2010 [denmark] [livingroom]

Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg for the lobby and reception areas in the Royal Hotel, in Copenhagen. The commission to design every element of the hotel building as well as the furniture was Jacobsen’s grand opportunity to put his theories of integrated design and architecture into practice. The Egg is one of the triumphs of Jacobsen’s total design - a sculptural contrast to the building’s almost exclusively vertical and horizontal surfaces. The Egg sprang from a new technique, which Jacobsen was the first to use; a strong foam inner shell underneath the upholstery. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen strove to find the shell’s perfect shape in clay at home in his own garage. Because of the unique shape, the Egg guarantees a bit of privacy in otherwise public spaces and the Egg – with or without footstool – is ideal for lounge and waiting areas as well as the home. The Egg is available in a wide variety of fabric upholstery as well as leather, always combined with a star shaped base in satin polished aluminium.

The Visby set: brunch and café atmosphere. In your life to come, there ought to be time for both a visit to a café and breakfast in bed. And with the new Visby café set you can create Scandinavian café atmosphere in your home in no time - or serve a highly balanced breakfast in bed. The normally flat saucers and plates have become pointed, so that cup, saucer or bowl can be stacked onto the corresponding grooves in the bottom and stay securely on the bed tray. Visby was developed by the famous Danish designer Kim Buck and has a new, surprising form language, where e.g. the handle looks like a nozzle, and the plate pierces the rest of the set. Visby consists of 7 parts: cup, espresso cup, saucer, plate, sugar/cream, yogurt bowl and jug. The colour is a "soft" white.
