Fia by Nina Jobs
09/05/2010 [sweden] [diningroom] [permalink]

Once again Nina Jobs excels in her quest for functional simplicity with straightforward natural forms and colors. But not without a sophisticated twist to a mouth-blown carafe for wine and water, or to be used as a flower vase. It is no wonder that the Fia is named after the Swedish version of the board game Ludo. The straight lines allude to her playful character, as well as the precisely ground spheres in amber, pink, black and clear crystal. Fia carafe/vase by Nina Jobs now available in store.

Taka table by Love kompott
11/02/2010 [poland] [diningroom] [permalink]

Taka table is 180 cm long, 76 cm wide and 74 cm high and can accommodate 8 people. The surface of the table is uneven and faceted. It is indented in a number of irregular, polygonal shapes and turns the table top into a vessel itself. Among the cuts there are horizontal planes arranged so that the table can be used in a traditional manner. By breaking the most basic characteristic of a table – its flat surface, it breaks the stereotype and opens up a discussion about the search for the new values – cultural, functional and aesthetic.

Moon is a dish filled with holes, which breaks all the rules and takes tediousness out of the ordinary. It is an example of not always having to do what you are used to doing, and challenging conventional thinking while cultivating aesthetic awareness.

Visby by Stelton
18/07/2009 [denmark] [diningroom] [permalink]

The Visby set: brunch and café atmosphere. In your life to come, there ought to be time for both a visit to a café and breakfast in bed. And with the new Visby café set you can create Scandinavian café atmosphere in your home in no time - or serve a highly balanced breakfast in bed. The normally flat saucers and plates have become pointed, so that cup, saucer or bowl can be stacked onto the corresponding grooves in the bottom and stay securely on the bed tray. Visby was developed by the famous Danish designer Kim Buck and has a new, surprising form language, where e.g. the handle looks like a nozzle, and the plate pierces the rest of the set. Visby consists of 7 parts: cup, espresso cup, saucer, plate, sugar/cream, yogurt bowl and jug. The colour is a "soft" white.

Modella and Buble by BOA design
02/07/2009 [czech] [diningroom] [permalink]

Hot news from BOA design studio - MODELLA and BUBLE collection. The Modella and Buble sets were designed for Kvetna glass works. Both sets are the result of an economical conception as they are created using just two molds. They only differ in the length of their stems which defines the look and final proportion of each type.

As you can guess from the name, the Buble set is inspired by bubbles. Their form consists of two circles which permeate each other. The final shape is reminiscent of the curves of a woman's body. You can observe the color and appearance of your wine in the bottom part of the glass, while the upper part retains the aroma and allows the bouquet of the wine to stand out.

The Modella set comes from the shape of a cylinder which is tapered in the middle to lighten the cylinder's strict geometrical shape. The fragility and simplicity of the form is further enhanced by a thin stem with a length that changes according to glass type. The stem is missing from the glasses for whiskey and water, and the bottom is thickened to balance the proportions of the form.

Typical for both sets is the concave shape of the body which allows the glass to be held in the middle. Such usage challenges conventional sommelier's methods.
